#11: Semester Kickoff Icebreaker

Creating Community

Happy New Year colleagues and friends! I hope your winter break was both restful and enjoyable.

With the start of a new semester, I thought I would share a great virtual icebreaker activity to help build a cohesive community of learners. Who Am I is a creative way to get to know your students and provides information for them to get to know each other.

It’s very simple…here are the steps to set up the activity, Who Am I:

  1. Set up a Google Slide for each student in your class.
  • Be sure to provide editing rights so each student can go in and work on their own slide, while observed other students’ slides.

2. Encourage your students to be creative as to how they set up their slide to showcase their interests and personality.

3. Create your own Google slide to model your instructions and expectations.

I hope both you and your students have fun with this activity. Thanks to my CSULB colleague Angelica Gunderson for sharing this icebreaker activity with me!

Stay healthy and safe.
