Achieve has released a new publication, A Framework to Evaluate Cognitive Complexity in Science Assessments, which focuses on a new approach to capture and communicate the complexity of summative assessment items and tasks designed for three-dimensional standards. This framework can be used to ensure that that all learners can make their thinking and abilities visible without compromising the rigor and expectations of the standards. This document is a science-specific tool to help ensure that the assessment tasks put in front of students are the ones that matter.
